The Saint Angela Choir from Bandung (Indonesia) will be participating in the World Choral Championship 2024 in Rimini this November, representing the Tokyo International Choir Competition.
The choir, led by Roni Sugiarto, has won awards at some of the most prestigious international competitions. For this year’s competition, they have commissioned a suite of Indonesian themes to Josu Elberdin. Titled Bungong Jeumpa, the suite brings together various pieces of Indonesian folklore, harmonizing them and elevating them to a high level of interpretative artistry.
Although the competition will take place in Italy in November, on October 5th, they will give a preview concert at the PPAG Auditorium, Universitas Parahyangan in Bandung, where they will premiere Elberdin’s commissioned work, along with other pieces.
