The Choral Amicus Meus (Ávila), and its conductor Daniel De la Puente, want to join the celebrations of the fifth centenary of Saint Teresa with an innovative project that will value the figure of the holy and universal mysticism and their relation with the music.

With the sponsorship of the Government of Castile and Leon, through the Siglo Foundation, and the collaboration of Provincial and City of Avila, Amicus Meus has commissioned a total of twelve new scores.

The works are inspired by mystical texts of Santa Teresa, Khalil Gibran, St. Juan de la Cruz or contemporary poets as JosAnton Artze, Emily Dickinson …

Among the composers who have joined the project are Josu Elberdin, Eva Ugalde, Kentaro Sato … up to complete an international group with twelve of the biggest names in the international choral scene.

In the case of Josu Elberdin this has written them, Mi corazón se muere de vivir (My heart is dying to live), a work for mixed voices and piano inspired by a text of Hindu mystic Saint Kabir.

The premiere of the work will take place on May 30 in the Church of Santa Teresa in Avila.
