World Premiere of Two traditional Basque Carols by Salt Lake Choral Artists in Utah

Next Saturday The Salt Lake Choral Artists of Utah-USA celebrated their special Christmas concert: O Yule Full of Gladness, Chritsmas Carols Around the World, singing popular Christmas music from around the planet.

Many countries will be represented and musical cultures like Brazil, Czech Republic, Spain, Africa, USA, UK, Slovenia, Philippines, Russia Catalonia and the Basque Country, with compositions by artists such as, D. Besig, M. McGlynn, M. Lauridsen, B. Chilcott, A. Copy, S. Choi, J. Rutter, C. Courtney, D. Willcocks, F. X. J. Gruber and J. Elberdin.

In the concert will be heard all groups of Salt Lake Choral Artists: Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Women’s Choir, Young Choral Artists and Salt Lake Vocal Artists.

For the end of the first part have commissioned to Josu Elberdin Two  traditional Basque Carols, musical piece that interpreted all the choirs together, conducting Dr. Brady Allred and with Laurel Enke as pianist.

The work is based on two traditional Basque Carols: Gabaren Erdian (slow carol, melodic and quiet) and Haur eder baten Billa (very rhythmic and joyful, written in the rhythm of 5/8, typical in the Basque Country), with the participation of all the choirs of the SLCA, highlighting moments for each choir and moments to sing together.

The concert, in two sessions, will be next Saturday, December 22 at 2:00 pm and 7:30 pm in Libby Gardner Concert Hall (Salt Lake City, Utah)
